Great White Shark Attacks Surfer
In 2004 Brian Kang a 38 year old surfer, was out surfing with two of his friends at "Bunkers" and
spot north of Eureka Jetty in Northern California. Kang who had paddled out further than his two friends,
sat up on his board and was immediately throw from it.
"It just came out of the blue," said Kang from his hospital bed where he was being treated for injuries to his hip,
thumb, and knees. "I pushed it away with my hands." Kang said he received between 50-100 stitches to sew him back
together.
This is not the first shark attack on surfers in this area know as "The Red Triangle", for its high density of

Shark Rips Surfer's Arm Off
A man who had his arm ripped off by a shark while surfing off Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean died in
hospital. The 34-year-old, identified as Sebastien Emond, was bitten by the shark while surfing on Sunday
with two friends.
The friends managed to drag him 100 metres through the water back to the beach in constant fear that the shark
was going to return. Emond collapsed unconscious from blood loss and was only kept alive by paramedics who
carried out heart massage and tied off the severed shoulder. He was then taken to hospital in the nearest
town of Saint Pierre and operated on, but did not survive his injuries.

Koeel Bay Shark Attack
A 42-year-old surfer was savaged by a shark during a session at Koeel Bay in April 2000. Sergio Capri, a respected
local and veteran surfer, was hit by the shark totally unawares.

Great White
|
The "fairly big" shark was between three and five metres long and bit into his upper right leg. Surgeons undertook
an emergency operation to repair the damage.
Great White sharks have been known to cease an attack when they discover the
prey is not compatible with their common prey, seals. Sadly the damage done in
the initial hit is enough to take a life in some cases.
